Champions Creed - AFC July 2013

It was a fantastic night at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary over the weekend for the Champions Creed Fighters.

For his first professional fight, Brandon YPMA started the night off with a TKO at round 2. At one point of the fight, YPMA picked up his opponent, Beau Bentley and slammed him to the ground. He then tried to work on his submissions but his opponent had a really good defence.  He then worked on his ground & pound and continued that until the ref decided to stop the fight and announced Brandon YPMA as the first winner of the night.

Also his first professional fight, Will “The Thrill” Monzon fought against Jared Silverthorn of Minnedosa, Manitoba. The fight started off with Monzon throwing punches and knocked Silverthorn down. Silverthorn came back up and that’s when Monzon got the chance to finish him with a KO at 45 seconds in the first round.

Dusty Kramps was looking good, prepared and ready for the 3rd fight. Unfortunately, it was a no contest due to an accidental hit to the groin.

For the semi-main event of the night, Trent “The Slaughter” House was working on finding his opponent’s weakness during the first round. House then found his opening and finished Brandon Shorter out with a nice KO in the second round.

For the main event of the night, Noah “The Chosen Defender” Ali fought Mike O’Neil, a wrestler from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ali sunk in a guillotine a couple of times. Because third times a charm, Ali tried yet another guillotine and that is when he finished off O’Neil at 1:45 on round 1.

Big thanks to Shae Erickson, Matt Vanderlinde, Billy Kim, Mike Smallwood, Brian Bird and Mark Vella for cornering and warming up the guys in the back. Also, big thanks to the Champions Creed members, family and friends for coming out to support the fighters at the AFC 20.
