We want you to meet Gary. He is our very own Mr. Miyagi, ready to impart his knowledge and wisdom. (Lucky for you he doesn't have a lot full of cars to wax on and wax off!)
We had a chance to catch up with this Chartered Accountant/Legend, and here is what he had to say:
I teach jiu-jitsu. I have done one form of martial art or another, since I was 13 and now I'm 61. (I know, we all want to know if he can catch a fly with chopsticks.)
My whole life was about martial arts. What I love about jiu-jitsu is that I don’t understand it, and that’s why I love it so much. It is a mental challenge.
Awesome group, just an awesome group of friends. A support group, and everybody always wanting to help each other. If I hadn’t come here nine or ten years ago, I would have quit martial arts already, but I was given a second chance in life.
I don't have one in particular. Beggars can't be choosers. Whatever I see is what I go for. (He is sneaky good that way.)
We asked Coach Brian about Gary, and here is what he had to say:
Gary is a man who walks the talk. He is a generational leader and everyone looks up to him at every level. Gary has been around for a long time and because he is big on the spiritual side, he has always led by example. He is a wise soul and well-loved at the gym.
Gary has been training in other styles of Martial Arts for a long time before he joined our team and had previously achieved a Black Belt in Hapkido. He started training with us in 2007. I remember him saying that he would have given up on his training had he not found us. We are so glad to have him, he brings a level of knowledge and wisdom that is hard to come by these days.
